    Fun July 4th Events in Kansas City

    The July 4th holiday is coming up fast. I was recently searching for 4th of July events around Kansas City and thought I’d share some of them with my friends. Here’s your guide to finding free (or low cost) events around Kansas City.

    June 26, 2021 – July 10, 2021

    Flags for Freedom | Merriam, KS
    Located at the Merriam Marketplace along Merriam and Johnson Drive
    A display of perfect rows of flags that honors our nation, offering a time for reflection this Independence Day.

    July 2, 2021

    Spirit of America Celebration | Raymore, MO
    7 PM, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Recreation Park. Includes free admission, live music, food trucks and activities.  Fireworks display at dusk.

    July 3, 2021

    WW1 Museum’s Stars & Stripes Picnic | Kansas City, Missouri
    July 3rd, 2021 at 6:30 PM
    Memorial Grounds open at 3 PM. Events include music, food trucks, and the Navy Leap Frogs parachuting.  Fireworks display beginning at dusk.  A full schedule can be found on their website.

    Mahaffies’ 1860’s Independence Day Celebration
    July 3rd, 2021 at 10:00am – 4:00pm Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm 1200 E Kansas City Road Olathe, KS 66061. Cost is $7/adults, $5/children ages 5-11, children 4 & under are free and includes all activities. Olathe residents receive $2/off admission.
    Mahaffies’ Independence Day Celebration activities may include:

    • A Reading of the Declaration of Independence at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. 
    • Meet Lady Columbia and Uncle Sam
    • Cookstove demonstrations
    • Mahaffie Farmhouse open to visit
    • Stagecoach rides
    • Ice cream, root beer, and root beer floats available for purchase.

    Red, White, and Zoo
    July 3rd, 2021 at 10:00am – 4:00pm Have a blast this Independence Day at the Kansas City Zoo. Many of our animals will be receiving special patriotic enrichment to celebrate. Coloring sheets and crayons will be available in the lobby near our themed backdrop.

    Edgerton, KS Community Picnic & Fireworks Show
    July 3, 2021
    Gates open at 5 p.m. The picnic begins at 6 p.m.
    There will be free food and t-shirts for the first 500 people.  Fun activities for kids include bounce houses, face painting, and hair spray painting.  Fireworks approx. 9:45 p.m.

    Olathe, KS | 2021 Olathe Red, White & Blue 
    July 4, 2021 | Approx. 9:45 p.m. | College Boulevard Activity Center (CBAC)

    Celebrate Independence Day in Olathe on July 4 with Olathe’s annual fireworks display at College Boulevard Activity Center (11031 S. Valley Parkway).  Fireworks begin at dark, approximately 9:45 p.m.

    Overland Park, KS | Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular 
    Corporate Woods Founders’ Park.  Fireworks begin around 9:45 PM.

    Leawood, KS | 4th of July Celebration 
    July 4th Celebration at Leawood City Park, 6pm- 9:30pm
    Food vendors, giant slide, inflatables, rock wall, trampoline, Mad Science Stage Show, balloon artists, and live music.  Fireworks approx. 9:45 PM

    Gardner, KS | Independence Day Festival at Celebration Park
    Festivities begin at 4:00 PM and include live music, a zip-line, face painting, and food vendors.  Fireworks at 10:00 PM

    Stilwell, KS
    Events include: Stilwell Community Parade at 6 PM, food vendors, and live music.  Fireworks display approx. 9:30 PM (may start earlier or later depending on weather)

    Blue Springs, MO | Red, White and Blue Springs
    Gates open at 6:30 PM with live music at 7:30 PM.  Fireworks at 9:45pm

    Parkville, MO | 4th of July Celebration
    Events begin at 8AM and include a pancake breakfast, parade, music with the Navy Band Great Lakes Brass Quartet, and the Falcon Skydiving Exhibition at 8pm.  Fireworks display at 9:30 PM.

    Weston, MO | 4th of July Weston Community Celebration
    All day celebration that includes a parade, relays, watermelon eating contest, live music, snow cones, and military recognition. Visit their website for the full schedule of events! Fireworks at 9:45 PM

    Oak Grove, MO | July 4th Celebration
    Activities begin at 6:00 PM.  All activities are FREE (except for food trucks) and includes: live music, face painting, balloon animals, a tethered hot air balloon ride and concludes with FIREWORKS at dusk.
